I need a new book

I started the new Christopher Buckley but it's slow going so far. Normally I like him; he's pleasantly sarcastic, but this one just isn't doing it for me. It almost sounds like a parody of his father's stuff.

However the book did lead to the following amusing anecdote:

So I'm in the library, looking around the new books area, and I see the Buckley book, and another, on one of the tables. There are a few people sitting the chairs near the table, but nobody looks really associated with that book. Like "oh, I'll just here for a second and read the paper, and meanwhile, I'll place the books I plan to check out on this handy table."

So, my first thought is "oh, I've been wanting to read that," and go to grab the book. But then I was all "well, maybe this is someone's book, I can't just grab it, that would be bizarre -- book-napping in the library."

So basically, I stalked the book. I walked around and around, looking at other stuff, and watching the book out of the corner of my eye. At one point, I went over and hovered near the book, to see if anyone would shoo me away. Eventually I realized that I had to go, so dilemma -- do I just take it? What if someone shouts out "book thief!" and there's a huge scandal?

Finally, I broke down and asked one of the women sitting there if it was hers, and she looked at me like I was nuts. So then I took the book and fled -- rushed to the checkout and hurried out of the library, in case someone was running after me to get the book back.

So anyway, if you meant to check out this book and were wondering what happened to it, there you go. But really it's just eh, so I've spared you some time.
