I believe this is what's known as "taking your ball and going home."
Sports & Fashion, does it get any better?
This guy is one of my favorite new reads. OK, it's more about design than fashion, but Lukas has a great way with words. I disagree about the vests in baseball, though. They look dorky. Although with some guys, it really doesn't matter what you put them in.
The Senate defeated a plan to permanently end the estate tax. I have a long rant about why I support this tax from an economic perspective, but I'll just leave it at this: everyone's who's going on and on about how they worked hard all their lives for this money, and it's so unfair for them to have to pay this tax, stop worrying. You won't have to pay anything, because YOU'LL BE DEAD! Apparently there's some people in this country who are unclear on the concept of how death works exactly.

Why is it that Michael Lewis and his editors think we care about his thoughts on having children? I'm a first time parent, and I have all these observations about how life is suddenly different, and how whole new worlds of meaning have opened up for me, but I'm not so self-absorbed to think that I'm the first person to whom this has ever ocurred. And this is Lewis' second kid, I mean, come on, he must have read all this stuff the first time. I keep clicking back, hoping that maybe he'll be funny, or say something interesting but it's all just "hey, being a new parent makes you tired!" or "I'm filled with doubt over how to juggle family and work!" Wow, Michael, you may just get a MacArthur for that one.
This is just cool.
Fergie is getting her own syndicated talk show. Well really, why not? Isn't it everyone's right to have their own talk show? I think it's right up there after "pursuit of happiness."

I think I'm under some sort of Amish curse.

I'm just having a bad run with electrical equipment lately. (Probably a bad time to start a blog then, huh?). We've been through three VCRs in one week - first the old one from college died, so we brought over LawyerMan's old college one, and that died too. Then my parents gave us one that they got free from the casino but it wouldn't let us tape one show while watching another. So we had to break down and drive over to Taregt to buy a new one.

So after that debacle, I come home late the other night, put the baby to bed, and walk out to the kitchen, where's there's this weird electrical smell. Our old toaster oven had gone to meet it's maker. I must have bumped it or something, because it had turned itself on, and was emitting a bad electrical wiring smell, which took hours to fan out of the partment. My parents said they've got a toaster oven from the casino they're willing to give us (this makes them sound like they're running some sort of pawn shop, doesn't it), but I'll probably just head over to the hardware store.
