Bee Season

reading EW's review of the trailer for Bee Season

Co-directors Scott McGehee and David Siegel don't make cozy movies; they make thorny, cerebral dramas like The Deep End and Suture. But based on this clip, this McGehee-Siegel film looks like a fairly standard family-with-issues drama. I'm not really ready to watch stars as sexy as Richard Gere and Juliette Binoche play warm, cuddly parents. Let's hope the directors can bring some of their trademark strangeness to this film, which otherwise looks as surprising as a warm bath.

True, the trailer does hint at anything, but either they've utterly changed the plot, or the guy who wrote the review never read the book.

Side note, Richard Gere Jewish? Not so much.

William Shatner ("Boston Legal") and opera's von Stade with the theme from Shatner's 1960s series "Star Trek."

Barbara Bush -- size 7.5B mouth

The AP quotes former first lady Barbara Bush on Katrina:
"What I'm hearing, which is sort of scary, is they all want to stay in Texas. Everyone is so overwhelmed by the hospitality," she said during a radio interview with the American Public Media program "Marketplace." "And so many of the people in the arena here, you know, were underprivileged anyway, so this is working very well for them."

Oh, yeah, this is just a dream come true.

I'm really hoping she's been taken out of context here, because my god, is that showing poor taste.
