Shocked & Appalled

Random rants

5/26/2004

The Harvard Crimson has a story about an office worker who included a link to her personal web site in all her work email. The web site had a link to her blog, where she posted random thoughts including rants about her boss and co-workers, mentioned by name, and lines such as "I am two snotty e-mails from professors away from bombing the entire Harvard campus."

Not surprisingly, when a supervisor discovered this, she was placed on leave, and the HR department got involved. The story says she has since deleted her blog, "replacing the archives with a single entry: "Voyeurism is bad. Please go peep someplace else, Tom." "

Yes. The problem is that people are voyeurs, for looking at the journal that you publish on the Internet and direct people to through work-related communication.

How dare they.

So, one aspect of my job involves constantly monitoring the wires. Normally a fairly mindless task, but it does occasionally present me with gems like this:

Dark Dynamite Throws Down the Gauntlet of Beauty

SALT LAKE CITY--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 25, 2004--Dark Dynamite Inc. (OTCBB: DRKD - News) filed its 10QSB, which included many updates and developments of the company's business and prospects. In keeping with its image of an eccentric lifestyles company, Dark Dynamite has opened new divisions and made headway with the development of proposed products to be shipped during third quarter. Dark Dynamite has leased space in Salt Lake's historic Wallace building for its new office center. Plans for renovation have passed the city's approval. Construction begins May 27, 2004.

It's almost surreal. I don't even want to know what this company actually does (of course, silly me they're an "eccentric lifestyles company.") I just want to sit back and enjoy the gibberish.
