She's just being Miley

So, the whole Miley Cyrus/Vanity Fair brouhaha is leaving me decidedly nonplussed. Frankly, I just don't find the photo in question all that scandalous. It's of her bare back, i.e. the same thing you would see if she were to wear a halter, or a bathing suit. I'm unclear why this is supposed to be so outrageous.

And even if I was shocked and appalled by the notion my daughters seeing a 15-year-old bare shoulder (gasp!), it's in Vanity Fair. Neither my 7-year-old nor my 4-year-old reads Vanity Fair (though the 4-year-old is a *huge* fan of the Atlantic.) Is there really a lot of overlap in audience between Hannah Montana and Vanity Fair? The one with RFK on the cover? Yes, the tweens will be tearing down the magazine stands for that!

OK, yes, it's on the internet, and we just went through this with Hudgens, but really people: it's her shoulder. Yeesh. I'm much more concerned with them watching "Freaky Friday" and saying "wow, Lindsay Lohan is cool!" Now, there is something to worry about.
