Apparently, Gap thinks I am old

So Gap's new concept store, Forth & Towne, opens today. There are many things I am annoyed at by this (surprise).

So first off, they claim they need to open a new store for women over 35 who can't shop at their other stores. Excuse me, but isn't that what Banana Republic is for? Also, I didn't realize that in two years, I will no longer be allowed into Gap or Old Navy. I don't have to get too dressed up for work (or dressed up at all for that matter) and most of my summer wardrobe comes from those stores. But apparently, I'm scaring the teenagers.

So, secondly, there was a comment in, I think it was the Times this was supposed to be an alternative to Chicos, Talbots or Ann Taylor, but not as dressy. Huh? Talbots seems to be more for women in their 50's, not 30s. And the only person I know who shops at Chicos is Joy Behar, who's always talking about it on The View. That's my demographic now? And since when is Ann Taylor dressy? I mean, yeah, they have suits, but most of their stock seems to be sweaters and pants. I don't think some of these execs have ever been in any of these stores.

What disturbs me most is this idea that they're just lumping all women over 35 in one category. The line in the Times is "Forth & Towne is described by Gap executives as a destination for all women over 35: working women, soccer moms, grandmothers, suburbanites and city dwellers. "

So, over 35 is basically the same as over 65? Bite me, Gap executives.
